QuadCopter motor wiring
Hi everyone. I am in the process of building my first (over-priced) QuadCopter. I do not understand the motor wiring. I understand motors 1 and 4 rotate their propellers clockwise, while motors 2 and 3 go anticlockwise. But I do not understand the wiring. My motors each havethree coloured wires (Red, Yellow and Black). The motor controllers each have three wires the same colour (blue). I have studied the construction photos and, looking carefully, I am confused as to which is which and what goes where. I have seen other kits where the motor and control wires are all the same colour (black). Am I missing some technical understanding?
I cannot test motor control and rotation, as I am awaiting a battery. My kit from Flycam, Korea, did not come with one.
Please help. Would love to meet a friend in this exciting hobby.

Hello, I checked Invenscience web page and there is little info on their 12V Torxis motors which are also being sold here through Lynxmotion. What are the aditional two wires that connect to such motor. Except red, yellow and black that should go to controllers, there are aditional two. Do these two go to 12V source and red/yellow/black are just for signals from controllers such as SSC-32 ? Considering that SSC-32 is 6V output and Torxis motor is 12V, do those two aditional wires provide some kind of amplification for 3 wires from 6V SSC-32 controller or what ? Is it ...Hi, I am trying to interface with a stepper motor, but I am having trouble with this particular stepper motor, it has 8 wires, from what I've read, it can be wired as a unipolar or bipolar (series, parallel). The motor is a Tamagawa TS3166N913. In the nameplate it says 4.3 ohm/0.9 deg/step 400s/r Their website no longer has the datasheet for this particular motor. I was already able to identify which wires are paired: gray and purple - 2.2 ohms white and red - 5.2 ohms blue and yellow - 5.2 ohms orange and black - 2.2 ohms I tried wiring it as a bipolar parallel by connecting ...Hi everyone! New to this forum, so thank you in advance for any help you can provide. I have never worked with wheelchair motors before, so this is virgin territory for me. I snagged two 24v "Pride Mobility Jazzy Jet 2" motors from ebay, but despite my best efforts to figure out how to wire them to 24v, I simply can not get the correct information.... even from Pride Mobility! The problem is that there are 4 wires per motor. A red, black, and two whites. From endless reading I am assuming that the two white wires control some kind of braking ...I've recovered a stepper motor from an old scanner. There are 6 wires coming from it: White, Blue, Red, Yellow and 2 Brown. It's a Teco type 4H4018S0106 marked 12V, 0.2A, 1.8Deg. The Teco site shows some 6 wire steppers, but none of them have those colour wires and there's no archival records to look up. How do I connect it to a motor shield and get the neccessary phase shifts?Hello I have a mercedes 202, got hold of some stock hid lights (the street legal ones, with all required aparatus), yes they were availlable when the car was being built, though still rare. I managed to find some new old parts to install this upgrade. Still missing is the wiring and the control module. -the sensors looks like simple potentiometer not very linear, but nothing that could not ba solved by and ohmeter and raising lowering the car. -Wiring the controler not a problem if I use the arduino. -Driving the electric motors that do the job, is the problem gt. I ...hi all, i don't know how to connect tyhe wires of the stepper motor along with the 89c51 . there are totally 6 wires in it . and the motors type is KP39HM4-018 and it seems to be japanese make that works for 5v. the colors of the wires are 1 brown , 2 red , 1 black , 1 yellow and 1 orange . where can i get the exact dataheets for my motor type?can anyone suggest me?is there any forum for stepper motor, where i could get more information?Hi, I'm really new to all this. I never had a brushless motor and ESC before. I want to build a QuadX but I'm not sure how to connect the ESC and the RX. Questions: 1. According to this image, does it means that all four motors are in series? 2. There's 3 wires from ESC to RX, but here, it seems that only one (green) is connected to the arduino. What about the red/black wires? 3. We use the red/black wires from the last ESC to power up the RX on the batt pins and the arduino board? 4. There's 3pins for each channels on ...Hello, I bought and arduino duemilanove some months ago and I have been using it quite a lot. Recently, I was thinking in putting better motors for my robotic projects and I wanted to use encoders. I was thinking in buying this motor: EMG30 - GearMotor with Encoder (i cant put the link as its my first post) as it has encoders with which I wanted to start making some interesting projects. I bough aswell the arduino motor shield to connect a motor like the one up there, but I havent decided the motor yet. The question is: where do I connect the ...Hey all just wanted to see if anyone could give me a hand.. Recently we discussed stepping motors. I understand the idea and seeing your tutorial page with the stepping motor.gifs was awesome. We are currently doing this in lab but ran into a problem tonight.. when given our motors we found that it used a different coloring schematic.. I check the forum and found one pic that showed different wiring setups but none had purple in them lol. I have Mindstorms motors that I would like to use.(http://mindstorms.lego.com/en-us//Products/Interactiv+Servo+Motor/9842.aspx) I have cut a wire in have and striped the wires. Using this website (http://www.scribd.com/doc/24698262/Rj12-and-Lego-Nxt) I have tested the wires by plugging the un-striped end into my mindstorms, turning the motors on and testing the output with a multimeter. The results are from 1.2 to 4.5 . I would like to build a line following robot with these motors and a photo cell. I want to make sure that the motors will work. Any suggestions? ...I just bought 4 Solarbotics RM2 motors for my gm3 gearboxes. These are the black ended motors. (at least the Solarbotics catalog shows black ends I got white). I am also using the DC Motor Driver 1.1 board to drive the motors and I am not getting enough current to the motors. So my torque is not enough to extrude. I have moved to my original motors. I was looking at the wiring diagram trying to figure out how to put a extra motor on and i was thinking we could ...I've noticed on my motors and a lot of other motors that having the motors above the quadcopter means that the max lift capacity relies on the little C-Clip under the motor shaft which leads me to my question, would it not be better to mount the motors under the arms so the thrust will push the motor together rather than pull it apart when mounted above. Would there be any negative effects from mounting the motors under the arms ? I had one of the C-Clips pop off during a flight yesterday and would prefer this doesn't happen again ...Im currently trying to control two dc motor using the adafruit motor shield to control the movement of this chassis http://www.pololu.com/catalog/product/1060TReX However I'm currently confused on how to control two motors through the programming with the use of the motor shield. The pseudo code goes like this and the wiring setup of the motor shield. for forward movement : two motors turns on in one direction for x amount of time for reverse movement : two motors turns on in the opposite direction for left turn 90 degrees : one motor turn in one direction while the other one turns in the opposite direction for right turn ...I bought a brushless motor, a brushless motor controller and a li-po battery. The motor controller has 3 wires (white, red and black), can these be connected to the arduino deicimila to control the motor? If so, what pins and how do I control it? I don't see an applicable library/example for it. Mine has a white wire instead of the yellow shown in the image.I need to control 2 DC motors (12V,300mA(stall)) with the arduino uno board. So I built a motor controller using the L293DNE ic. It controls 1 motor perfectly but when I program the arduino with instructions for the second motor, the 1st motor does not spin in one direction. I have written a code to test the motor in both directions. I have all the ground lines common. I am powering the motors from a pc psu(12V,10A) or a NiCD battery pack(6V). i soldered 0.1uF capacitors across the motor terminals and a 10uF electrolytic capacitor across the motor power supply. ...Im new to PICAxe - still at the excited to make an LED flash stage!! I have an AXE023 board, and trying to attach a four wire bipolar stepper motor. After hours trying to understand the manuals and trawling the web I am still confused aboout a simple connection to get me started with stepper motor control. It seems to me that the digram on p18 of manual 3 is a repeat of connecting two DC motors - not the stepper motor dirgram. Can someone plse advise which terminals I attache the four wires to. Many thanks IanI have a six-wire stepper motor, and I'm trying to get it up and running with either the basic two-wire control setup. It buzzes, but doesn't turn. Here's my chart to prove that: As you might be able to tell from the circuit, I'm using Tom Igoe's stepper motor wiring, using the two-wire control method. I've wired the yellow and white to +12V, and the ULN pin 8 to ...
