Propeller DEMO : (14.5 Meg Baud) High Speed Prop-to-Prop Serial Communication
Ok, beta testers… I have run this DEMO and tested over 100 Billion data Bits with no Transmission Errors over the distance of 10 feet from one Propeller to another Propeller.
Here is a beta release before I place it in the object exchange.

With the beta of Propeller GCC, and in the announcement of the beta of Propeller GCC the mention of 'all the development will be fed into Propeller II', I have some questions about the future that perhaps someone from Parallax can answer. I apologize in advance if this is answered somewhere else, but I couldn't find it. - With the advent of GCC for the Propeller, will further development continue on SPIN for the propeller, and more importantly will Propeller 2 be a GCC / Assembler only chip. Is SPIN going to continue on to the next generation of chip? ...Hello hoping someone on here can help me. I have an old BPI-216 serial LCD that I used to use for Stamp projects and now I want to use for a Propeller project. But I cant seem to get it to work with the Propeller at all. The LCD works fine with my Stamps and in its test mode. I downloaded the code from column #134 of Nuts amp Volts of BASIC Stamps, featuring Propeller Projects "Spin Baby Spin" which contains a demo for the BPI-216 with a custom object for it. Everything Ive read about the Propeller indicates that ...Hello, The problem I want to address: I want to build a robot that will run 5 Propellers in parallel. Each Propeller has a specific mandate (and many concurrent tasks are done by each propellers). Prop. 1- Control motors to move the robot Prop. 2- Power management Prop. 3- Image analysis (1 camera) Prop. 4- Sensors data analysis (distance, ...) Prop. 5- General tasks + robot mission Propeller should be able to communicate directly with any other Propeller at any time. Actually, I need (would like) to create a "fully connected network of Propellers". I think I2C is probably the ...Hello, I am very new to the Propeller, so newbie issues may be obvious here. I am trying to get a simple communication between two Propellers (a Propeller Demo Board and a PE Kit). I am using the FullDuplex Serial object to send a series of bytes from one Prop to the other and display using the Parallax Serial Terminal object. I've succeeded in most respects, but I'm having a frustrating time figuring out some extraneous (and or dropped) characters at the receiving Prop. My suspicion was improper buffering or timing. I've tried all kinds of insertion of delays on the ...Will the Propeller fail to be detected if the eeprom is bad/missing? I just wired up a board to use the Propeller chip that I got in the "Mystery Bag". I had checked all the voltages and checked for shorts and everything looked good. I then plugged in the Prop and the eeprom but somehow when doing that one of the LM317 resistors broke and both chips saw 6+ volts. I fixed the problem and replaced the Propeller but I don't have another eeprom. The Propeller Tool still doesn't detect a Prop. I just need to know if the eeprom ...I should have released this sooner... the "Saturday robotics club" that I participate in has a project going on where this is a perfect fit, and after cleaning it up a bit I thought I would pass it along. ------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------ Here is a derivative of the high speed 8.42 Meg Baud (1.05 Million Bytes per second) Prop-to-Prop communication that I wrote some time ago. Last March there were several changes to the front end of both the Receiver and the Transmitter in the way that the handshaking took place. Before you had to make sure that the Receiver was up and running ...I have been working with the "jm_i2c" Object; to connect several devices to the Propeller. The Object appears not to observer the NAK status in any useful fault tolerant way. For example, when a I2C peripherals miss-behaves (or is dead/missing) the object saturates the I2C bus with "wait(id)" output and never gives up. With my LCD Display on the same I2C bus, useful system diagnostic information that could have been displayed is lost, or stuck, in the blizzard. Has anyone expanded the "jm_i2c" object to be more flexible and fault tolerant? I have started some successful edits for my use, but ...I have a little project where I want the UNO board to send commands to a Prop shield. The Prop shield will actually be my main board/controller for my robot. I only what the UNO to send commands to the Prop(some kind of string of data). Basically I can write a simple C program and the Prop does all the work. I'm thinking SPI object or some other serial object is the way to get these to to talk. I really haven't seen anything like this before. I think this is the way to go? If anyone knows of some projects that are similar if ...I have been looking at a thread in the "Prop GCC Beta" forum and apparently the comment I am going to make would be better put here. My comment is to Parallax and to anybody involved with "SimpleIDE". Even though I am just a hobbiest and haven't purchased a quantity of Propeller chips, I completely understand the need to include C/C++ and I can kind of understand why it was not included with the Propeller 1 to begin with though it should have been from a business standpoint. As the Propeller is a unique chip and you are offering it thru ...www.geeks.com/details.asp?invtid=TKB150Pampcat=PDA Micro DataPad Mini Keyboard for Palm PDA m100/m105 Series $0.39 If it wasn't for shipping, these are almost free keyboards for a portable prop project... I kind of like to have visuals when learining something new so I do not mess things up.I am currently reading the Prop Manual and also the Programming and Customizing The Multicore Prop Microcontroller Manual but I would like some examples. I think 6MHz because they are cheapest - 24LC64 (8KB) eeprom with SD boot code - 1/2/3/4 wire connection to your propeller board (various protocols) - requires 3V3 and GND (i.e. no regulator on the pcb) Purpose... To provide fast and buffered connection to the microSD card. The included prop can read ahead and write behind, compare before writing to save wearing out a card if write is not required. Interface... 1pin for simple and therefore slow interface ...WOW!!!! Now I see what all the hype is about with the Propeller. I have only just begun and I must say that I am extremely impressed. I think I may be on the verge of selling all my Stamp items so I can buy more Prop toys!!! I can actually SEE what I am doing and my next lesson is to make it speak some words of joy to my wife. (She has the misconception that I wasted my money on the Demo Board!!!) I can't wait to get it implemented in my bot project. The real bummer part ...Is it possible to program a propeller with another propeller ? Has it being done ? or documented ? ThanksHey, I've been using the Propeller Tool for a while now; I suppose about two years. I always opened up the serial communicator, but not really knowing what it was for. I knew I could reset the Prop from the PC, but that was it. I see now that there is a serial communications object here for comm between the Prop and the serial terminal in the Prop Tool. Could this be used for debugging?I'm designing a new kind of Propeller sticker for attaching multiple props together with wiring/pin information for a parallel machine, and put this list together with links to existing prop stickers etc. Any new prop sticker designs? Want to combine Propeller, for easy programming, SSD1963 for VGA graphics, and VNC2 for USB interface. Going to attempt to use FT232RL (or maybe FT231X) to program both Prop and VNC2. Also, going to try using 2X SQI chips on the 8-bit data bus of the SSD1963 to allow direct transfer between the two. I'm doing a project and I currently plan to use an arduino to drive the screen and have the propeller do all of the other I/O. It will send bits to the arduino (from the prop) telling it what to display, which will be an image (or text) that is stored on the arduino. I was wondering if it was possible to skip the arduino part and just use the shield, as I will have enough processing power and I/O with just the ...Can the XBee USB Adapter Board be used with the Propeller Demo Board ? I would like to know if the USB connector on the XBee USB Adapter Board can be connected to the USB connector on the Propeller Demo Board via a USB cable ? I am trying to avoid using additional propeller pins on the demo board. I did not see this mentioned in the XBee Tutorial - Chapter 2 Draft "Parallax XBee Adapter Boards" .Ok so I finally got all my stuff in the mail, I built a simple power regulator circut on some pref board then followed the simple propeller schematics on in the prop manual, have not added a crystal yet though. When I hit f7 spin tool says no propeller chip found on com 3, but when i use the serial terminal and type RX, and TX both light up, when i hit my reset switch RX, flashes, when I hold the reset button as I type only TX will flash and RX stays dead until I let go of the reset. ...
