Hi,

I have few clarification regarding Linux.
Why do many peoples prefer Linux as platform for designing embedded.
Which Linux OS should we begin with it.
Is it similar to windows kind of(like programming IDE, debugging, Burning the code etc).

Hello Friends, I am working as Embedded System Designer with 4 years of experience in C programming(C51, PIC, ARM, AVR) up to 32 bit. Need help to begin linux for embedded systems

hi, I want to learn linux for embedded system applications. I havent linux yet so could u please suggest me some books(e-books) and topics to be covered to become embedded linux geek. Is learning kernal programming and device drivers development enough or do i need to learn something more. I am also ready to by a hardcopy of a book if it covers all the required topics. Also tell me what Rtlinux is. regard's.

Embedded Linux on ARM Platform

Hi, I have ARM Platform evaluation board (ARM integrator/CP amp ARM 920T Processor) in my office. I am a newbie in this area, so just wondering if I can utilise the above platform to be operated under embedded linux OS. (ucLinux or others). How to upload the embedded linux OS to the above platform ? FYI, the platform is connected to my PC using multi ICE interface. I use this interface to upload all of my C Code to the platform. What’s the best bootloader for an embedded Linux board?

I'm designing an embedded Linux board for use as a web-based controller. It will be based around an Atmel AT91SAM9G20, which uses an ARM926EJ-S core. Anyone have particularly good or bad experiences with bootloaders? More broadly, how should I go about building/choosing a Linux distribution for this board?

Hi, I would like to try embedded Linux on my 5282 Eval board. I am lost as for the tools and compiler that I need to achieve this task. Presently I am using CodeWarrior development suite. I downloaded the Linux BSP for 5282 (m5282evb-3.0-2004116.iso). Suggestion: debug Linux in general

Hi, I am trying to boot Linux on my development board and it stucks somewhere, -- I do not see log in prompt on my Hyper Terminal. I am new to embedded Linux stuff, and not sure how to debug this. In standalone mode, I usually start GDB to trace the software and see on which code is the problem, but how should I do for Linux? I was told briefly that Linux turns on MMU in the very early stage which makes it very difficault to debug kernel. How true is it? I wonder if ...

Newcomer to embedded programming

Hi guys, we should soon start working on a project involving an AT91SAM. (Non-graphical interface communicating with the outside world; some serious cryptography.) We need to quickly decide whether we should go the WinCE or the Linux route. I've looked around for threads of type "WinCE or Linux?" on this board (and, in general, using Google) but couldn't find anything. What is your recommendation? I see (based on the number of posts here and the number of total articles published on Linux / WinCE blogs) the Linux community is far more numerous than the WinCE one. Hey all.. I am interested in getting into embedded Linux! I bought a few text books on Linux and embedded systems... But, I don't know where to start in terms of an evaluation board and compiler, iv'e Googleed it and there is just so much info! Any one have a good idea for me? Preferably I would want something that has many i/o lines and is below $200 USD, with a decent (free) compiler, USB and Ethernet. Thanks everyone!

Which linux distribution for gcc beginner

I'm an experienced embedded software developer but I've never used Linux or GCC. Which Linux distribution would you recommend for a beginner? I expect to be able to dual boot with Windows. I was planning to buy the Red Hat Linux 9 Bible but Red Hat has moved on to newer versions. Is there something else that would be better? Thanks Kevin -- [Remove ".invalid"s to respond by email.]

Hey everyone, I want to learn linux for embedded programming. Im sure it would be best to learn linux for PC first. So i can get a feel for it. Can anyone point me to some books or links to sites where i can learn Linux. I have a little cheapo netbook type device CPU=WM8505 RAM=256mb NAND=2GB It can run Android and Windows CE ...
