Hello Friends,

I am working as Embedded System Designer with 4 years of experience in C programming(C51, PIC, ARM, AVR) up to 32 bit.
Now i want to learn embedded Linux programming.
my query is

hi, I want to learn linux for embedded system applications. I havent linux yet so could u please suggest me some books(e-books) and topics to be covered to become embedded linux geek. Is learning kernal programming and device drivers development enough or do i need to learn something more. I am also ready to by a hardcopy of a book if it covers all the required topics. Hi, I have few clarification regarding Linux. Why do many peoples prefer Linux as platform for designing embedded. Which Linux OS should we begin with it. Is it similar to windows kind of(like programming IDE, debugging, Burning the code etc).

Anybody with arduino + embedded linux experience?

Hi, I'm looking for somebody with experience programming embedded linux boards for a project I'll be working on until december. I'm an industrial designer with some arduino experience, but to make it happen for real I'd need some help. Otherwise I'd have to "fake" it and it would be nice to finish it properly. Hi, I would like to try embedded Linux on my 5282 Eval board. I am lost as for the tools and compiler that I need to achieve this task. Presently I am using CodeWarrior development suite. Embedded linux ????

Hey all.. I am interested in getting into embedded Linux! I bought a few text books on Linux and embedded systems... But, I don't know where to start in terms of an evaluation board and compiler, iv'e Googleed it and there is just so much info! Any one have a good idea for me? Preferably I would want something that has many i/o lines and is below $200 USD, with a decent (free) compiler, USB and Ethernet. Thanks everyone!

Newcomer to embedded programming

Hi guys, we should soon start working on a project involving an AT91SAM. (Non-graphical interface communicating with the outside world; some serious cryptography.) We need to quickly decide whether we should go the WinCE or the Linux route. I've looked around for threads of type "WinCE or Linux?" on this board (and, in general, using Google) but couldn't find anything. What is your recommendation? I see (based on the number of posts here and the number of total articles published on Linux / WinCE blogs) the Linux community is far more numerous than the WinCE one. Suggestion: debug Linux in general

Hi, I am trying to boot Linux on my development board and it stucks somewhere, -- I do not see log in prompt on my Hyper Terminal. I am new to embedded Linux stuff, and not sure how to debug this. In standalone mode, I usually start GDB to trace the software and see on which code is the problem, but how should I do for Linux? I was told briefly that Linux turns on MMU in the very early stage which makes it very difficault to debug kernel. How true is it? I wonder if ...

Qt 4.6.2 on at91sam9g45 with embedded linux

hi, i tried to use qt 4.6.2 on a development board with at91sam9g45 and an embedded linux. the buildprocess of the kernel, filesystem and qt is automated by buildroot. now i've got the problem that there is a segmenation fault when i try to run a qt application on the board. with version 4.5.3 it works fine. i think the problem is somewhere at the libraries. has anybody a solution or experiences with this problem or qt 4.6.2 and embedded linux? best regards ghal maraz

Hey everyone, I want to learn linux for embedded programming. Im sure it would be best to learn linux for PC first. So i can get a feel for it. Can anyone point me to some books or links to sites where i can learn Linux. I have a little cheapo netbook type device CPU=WM8505 RAM=256mb NAND=2GB It can run Android and Windows CE ... dialup gprs modem using at91sam9260 embedded linux

Dear all, I need to connect my embedded linux board (AT91SAM9260) to internet using GPRS modem. In desktop linux, I use wvdial to connect my desktop to internet using GPRS modem. But I don't know what tools to use in embedded linux. I've read on internet that some people use pppd in embedded linux to connect GPRS modem to internet. But I don't know how to add pppd application to embedded linux. Perhaps somebody can help me? thanks a lot. damian_s
